Real Winners and Losers in Week Nine of the NFL
A rejuvenated Chad Ochocinco has made the NFL fun again this season, and that makes all fans winners.
His latest antics came in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Raves, when he jokingly tried to hand an official a $1 bill while they were reviewing a sideline catch he during the game to see if his feet came down in-bounds.
The ploy didn't work, obviously, as the official quickly pushed Ocho away and the replay concluded he was out of bounds anyway.
Of course, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has no sense of humor and this will result in a fine for Ochocinco, but he surely knew that when he pulled the stunt. Ocho is willing to take money out of his pockets to entertain us, and that makes the NFL infinitely more interesting this season.
Winners:
Dallas Cowboys: They are quietly (for once) putting together a pretty good season, and they just won their fourth straight game, beating the Eagles Sunday night, to take control of the NFC East. Miles Austin was held in check, except for one play, and it proved to be the game-winning touchdown.
Tennessee Titans: Two games after re-inserting Vince Young into the lineup as starting quarterback, the Titans have their first two wins of the season. Just eight more to go and they're right back in that playoff race.
D'Angelo Hall: Hall allegedly challenged 50-year-old Mike Smith to a fight after the Falcons' coach punched him on the sidelines. Nice work all around.
Losers:
Green Bay Packers: The Pack guaranteed that a team this year won't repeat the Lions' winless season of a year ago, losing to the previously winless Bucs 38-28. The Bucs were starting a rookie quarterback and wearing their throwback creamsicle uniforms. Bad, bad loss.
New York Giants: The team that made Eli Manning the highest paid QB in the NFL is now in third place in its division and in real danger of missing the playoffs after losing to San Diego Sunday.
Chicago Bears: Jay Cutler threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns and the team still got blown out.
