Stephen Jackson Traded to Charlotte for Vlad Radmanovic and Raja Bell
One of the more entertaining storylines of the NBA season — Don Nelson's and Stephen Jackson's hatred of each other — appears to be over, as the Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Jackson and Acie Law to Charlotte for Vlad Radmanovic and Raja Bell.
But while the drama with Jackson and Golden State may be over, it does raise a few other questions.
- Jackson had expressed an interest in playing for a contending team. Charlotte is not a contender, and with championship hopefuls like Denver and San Antonio reportedly interested, will he be disappointed to be a Bobcat?
- Jackson butted heads with Don Nelson, a coach who let him get away with his penchant for taking three-pointers early in the shot clock, playing a free-wheeling style and being the focal point of the offense. Larry Brown, Charlotte's coach, appreciates none of those things, and is even more old-school and disagreeable at times than Nelson.
- Why would Charlotte take on another long term contract? They had just shed Emeka Okafor's long-term deal in the offseason for Tyson Chandler's shorter contract. Bell's and Radmanovic's deals expire after this season, while Jackson signed a three-year extension with Golden State. Not sure what the plan is in Charlotte.
There's still plenty of opportunities for Stephen Jackson to continue to entertain even though he's switched teams.
