Tiger Set to Defend Title at WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Tiger Woods has announced he will be back to defend his 2009 Bridgestone Invitational title. The World Golf Championship event takes place August 3-8 a the Firestone Country Club (South Course) in Akron, OH.
Tiger is no stranger to this event. Since the tournament started in 1999 (it started as the WGC-NEC Invitational), Tiger has won the event an incredible seven times and finished in a tie for 2nd in 2004 when Stewart Cink was crowned champion.
Could this be the event that puts Tiger back on track? Anything is possible. His seven victories have included two separate runs of 3 in a row. He accomplished this from 1999-2001 and then again from 2005-2007. In a 2010 season where he has been winless and only has 2 top 10 finishes, a familiar course, event, and trophy could be just the thing to get Tiger is first win of the year.
