Tiger Woods Wins The 2011 Chevron World Challenge
Tiger Woods 107 week winless streak came to an impressive end when he made back to back birdies to win the Chevron World Challenge. Woods, who finished second at the event last year, watched as Zach Johnson narrowly missed a birdie putt on 18 before stepping up and knocking his in for the win.

Tiger looked like a man on a mission from the moment he teed off on Thursday to the final putt. Opening the tournament with four birdies in his first five holes, Tiger would go on to birdie 20 holes and add 2 eagles on his way to shooting 10-under for the tournament. The most impressive may have been on the 71st and 72nd holes to grab a share of the lead with Zach Johnson and then win it on his final stroke.
It was the 83rd worldwide title for Woods and his first since the Australian Masters in November, 2009. The winless streak lasted 749 days and 26 official tournaments. During this time he dropped from #1 in the Official World Golf Rankings to 52nd. The victory was his first win with caddie Joe LaCava and moved him up in the OWGR to 21st where he was in July.
Is Tiger Back?
Within seconds of making his birdie putt to defeat Zach Johnson, Tiger Woods was trending on Twitter. In most cases it had to do with him being "back" and people speculating on what's in store for 2012. Ironically, the win comes on a day when Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood both captured captured victories on the other side of the globe. McIlroy is second in the world and Westwood is currently ranked third.
While no one can say for sure if Tiger is "back", it was great to see flashes of the "old" Tiger. The Tiger who put a little fear in the other players. A Tiger who proved he can win if he is in the hunt. The win didn't prove Tiger is going to be the best player in the world in 2012 but it gave us plenty to be excited about heading into next season.
