The season just keeps getting better for the University of Michigan football team. After an embarrassing loss to Illinois, the worst team in the Big 10, had the anti-Rich Rod crowd at a fever-pitch, comes word that offensive lineman Mark Ortmann could be suspended for ball-punching.

The video above doesn't conclusively show what he did, but it was pretty obvious what happened by the reaction of Illinois' Corey Liuget.

It would be the second punching incident this year by a U-M player. Linebacker Jonas Mouton was suspended for one game by the Big Ten after punching Notre Dame center Eric Olsen on Sept. 12.

U-M coach Rich Rodriguez said he talked with Ortmann about Saturday's apparent punch. He said Ortmann told him it was an open hand and he was just trying to get the player off him. Rodriguez said he doesn't think it will be an issue.

Yeah, it's going to be an issue. The Big 10 has already suspended two players, including UM's Jonas Mouton, so a suspension for Ortmann is probably likely.
