Google Will Merge Android and Chrome
Unlike Microsoft, who has roughly the same operating system for mobile and desktop, Google decided to come out with two different operating systems. One team is working on Android – an operating system for Google smartphone users.
Another team at Google is working on Chrome – meant for desktop users. But development of Chrome is going to take some more time and will not be officially launched until the end of 2010.
Google probably never wanted to bank on a single OS like Microsoft for the two different set of users – mobile and desktop. Relying on a single OS for their mobile/smartphone and desktop users, Microsoft is always on its toes because of bugs, patches etc. for its windows OS.
Google on the other hand distinctly made two teams to work on two different OSes thereby creating a healthy competition within the organization for making both the OS – Android and Chrome – feature-rich.

And finally when both Android and Chrome mature up, Google co-founder Sergey Brin stated late last week that Google is planning to merge the two OSes to make an ultimately strong and uniquely feature rich to serve its mobile and desktop user base.
