Indie book publisher Author Solutions has come to an agreement with Barnes & Noble to distribute indie e-books from its catalog through barnesandnoble.com for use on the nook e-reader.

The nook already has the ability to read ePub format, which will ultimately allow for digital loans from libraries, something that its major competitor, the Amazon Kindle, can not yet do (and no plans have been announced to enable the ability, either).  So this appears to be one more feature that should help Barnes & Noble make inroads into the market controlled primarily by Amazon.

According to the press release, the deal covers all books published under the AuthorHouse, iUniverse, Trafford Publishing, and Xlibris imprints. Pricing will be set at a default of $9.99, but authors will have the opportunity to set their own if they wish.
