Blog Focus is Technorati's daily roundup of the top stories as told by the bloggers of the world. Each day a handful of posts, no matter how popular or nascent, will be selected by editors to portray a general unscientific reaction to discussion points around the 'Net.

Apple's acquisition of LaLa clearly had a purpose and the Wall Street Journal feels they've identified it: LaLa might be the iTunes killer.  Or, more to the point, a key element of the new iTunes, moving multimedia into the cloud where you can always access it.

Here's the scoop from your friendly neighborhood Web-bloggers:

Mashable —Pete Cashmore focuses on the possible removal of iTunes from the desktop (at least as a requirement) for a new iTunes and possibly a lower cost to listen to songs, a la LaLa's cost model.

Gizmodo —Brian Barrett thinks there's a strong chance your current catalog could be part of the cloud as well.  Also, he adds that the timetable could bring this to consumers in 2010.  Finally, he suggests the music industry will have no choice but to follow the bouncing Apple into this new venture.

Between the Lines - CNET —Larry Dignan lists the reasons iTunes could use a makeover or a tear down and how this new strategy could provide it.

Lifehacker — And Whitson Gordon asks the musical question: would you leave your music collection in the cloud?
