Falling In Love 4.0: An iPhone Romance
In the summer of 2007, we experienced iPhone mania as consumers fell in line deliriously for the much awaited smart-phone. Luckily, I was not one of those who went gaga over the gadget. I waited until the lines died down a little and picked it up when my poor Razr phone died in July of the same year. Since then, I've not looked back. I fell in love at first touch with the first-generation iPhone.
The 3G came along and once again I upgraded. As most Apple consumers probably would have or would not have. It was supposed to be faster, better and smarter. Still it came with continued disappointment from AT&T's poor service.
At this time, I am used to my iPhone 3G. It's a gadget I can't live without, but which no longer offers the spark I got when my fingers landed on the touch screen the very first time. The devotion that lacked adoration resulted in my non-upgrade to the 3GS. I even quietly considering switching to the Android.
Today, I tuned in to the live blog on Gizmodo's coverage of the iPhone 4.0. Admittedly, as a user with a company that develops iPhone apps for clients, I am smitten once again by the iPhone with its new multi-tasking features, background audio, VOIP, background location, better email organization, more socially integrated tools and even more useful new features!
So smitten that I noted the upgrade date on my calendar - June 22nd! Falling in love repeatedly with your gadget is possible. Definitely an Apple core brand characteristic. Obviously, the iPhone 4.0 on the Verizon network would be the cherry on top for me.
More on Gizmodo's iPhone 4.0 breakdown how multi-tasking works and the advertising platform from a development perspective. What do I think about the iPad? I am strongly considering the purchase, primarily for media consumption. More on my iPad thoughts in a follow up post.
