Steve Wozniak Says Android Does Some Things Better Than iPhones

The war between Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating systems for smartphones rages on into 2012. The last quarter of 2011 saw the release opf two flagship devices from each company with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0 device, and the Apple iPhone 4S with iOS 5. 2011 also saw the passing of the king of CEOs, Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak co-founded Apple together, and built a company that now stands out as the 8th largest brand in the world. Apple's iPhone is the main reason for Apple's recent success this past decade. So one has to wonder, as Steve Jobs was very much against Android, and vowed to destroy it, why would Steve Wozniak give the Google OS his stamp of approval? It turns out Steve is an old friend of Andy Rubin, the guy in charge of Android at Google HQ. As seen above, Steve got himself an early version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which only means he's got connections and loves the new tech.
As it turns out, 'The Woz' has both an iPhone and an Android device (a couple actually, the Motorola Droid Razr, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus). Steve says that he still uses his iPhone more than any other device, and he loves the simplicity and design. He mentions however that there are many differences between them still, and has his uses he prefers to use on his Droid Razr Android smartphone rather than his iPhone. Here's what Steve had to say about his iPhone as well as problems he sees in Siri;
My primary phone is the iPhone, I love the beauty of it. But I wish it did all the things my Android does, I really do...I have a lower success rate with Siri than I do with the voice built into the Android, and that bothers me, I’ll be saying, over and over again in my car, ‘Call the Lark Creek Steak House,’ and I can’t get it done. Then I pick up my Android, say the same thing, and it’s done. Plus I get navigation. Android is way ahead on thatSteve acknowledges that the two smartphone operating systems are for different types of people as well. He's not necessarily stating that iPhone users are simple, or not as technically minded as Android users, but points out rather that iPhone users are happy with it because it's easy to use and learn, especially if they are already using Apple products. Where as Android users have a bit more of a learning curve ahead of them, but some of that pays off with the advancements of Google's developments and feature inclusions on Android devices. Steve said the following regarding who he recommends them to;
The people I recommend the iPhone 4S for are the ones who are already in the Mac world, because it’s so compatible, and people who are just scared of computers altogether and don’t want to use them. The iPhone is the least frightening thing. For that kind of person who is scared of complexity, well, here’s a phone that is simple to use and does what you need it to do.Steve Wozniak isn't jumping onto the Android bandwagon, he's just someone who recognizes that Apple isn't the only company doing anything right these days.
