TomTom's iPhone Car Kit Released in Australia
There is no need to introduce to you the TomTom GPS brand. But I surely need to present to you the long-awaited car kit for iPhone (now available in Australia today). What TomTom developed is basically a docking mount where you can attach your iPhone 3G or, even better, your iPhone 3GS. This docking mount can be attached to any windscreen, no matter the car’s brand or shape.

TomTom enhanced the docking mount’s importance and value by inserting a built-in GPS chipset that would eventually help iPhone’s own navigation performance to be better. This car kit for iPhone works in relation to any GPS navigation application from the iPhone App Store, such as TomTom’s own application and CoPilot, NDrive, Svgic and Navigon.
TomTom’s marketing manager, Chris Kearney, states that two words were inside the developers’s mind: quality and safety. Other things you can do with an iPhone TomTom car kit is to rotate it in order to display landscape images; you can also use the built-in speaker and microphone that can help you while driving. It’s useful as you don’t take your hands off the steering wheel thus enhancing your security and that of the other passengers.
The auxiliary output that can wire sound to you car’s stereo helps you stream audio files via Bluetooth but, unfortunately, this works only if you have a car kit installed and you don’t have an FM transmitter.
The price for TomTom’s car kit for iPhone is AU$159.99 and continues to be US$119.95.

Now, as far as I can see from the images with this docking mount, the rotation part is not fixed to the windscreen sticking part at the middle. After a period of using the rotation function, won’t it get a bit loose and fail to stay in horizontal position?
