ATM Hacker Thieves Captured and Indicted

A global racket of eight men - five Estonians, one Russian, one Moldovan and one unidentified man - has been arrested and put on trial in front of a US federal grand jury in Atlanta. The racket used latest sophisticated hacking techniques and organized computer fraud attack ever conducted to intrude into more than 2100 ATMs worldwide in 280 cities within a span of 12 hours. The countries effected included the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Italy, China (Hong Kong), Japan and Canada.

The coordinated and international nature of the crime required a similar response from worldwide crime-fighting agencies.  Estonian police worked with Hong Kong police, the FBI, Netherlands police, and more to secure evidence and then capture the men.
