Trying to keep up with the latest trends, Web sites and new media can be an overwhelming task. Sometimes a search engine may hit what one is looking for but more often than not it's a matter of painstakingly digging through hundreds of results that may not even pertain to one's interests.

Even when the information is found, it's yet another headache to cross reference and track data across several sites and services. A tool that searches all the pertinent social media web sites and gathers it all into one easy to read page is the prescribed medicine.

Fortunately, there is a tool available that does exactly what is needed. uberVU is a service currently in beta that searches out information based on URLs or keywords supplied and goes even further by tracking related conversations over many services and Web sites.

After a very simple sign up process (this service accepts signing in with standard services such as Twitter, Google and Facebook as well), users are presented with a subscriptions and alerts page. To the far left of the screen is a search box where one can type in a URL or keywords. Click 'Search' and uberVU goes to work.

Not only are users presented with recent conversations regarding the searched URL or keywords but analytics are provided as well. uberVU users can see recent popularity per day over the course of a month and a pie chart indicating which social media outlet the topic was most found. These analytics can be exported in either PNG or PDF format (with paid accounts).

Below the analytics, users are presented with a listing of recently updated conversations. Each conversation shows a “reaction” number – comments, tweets, etc. Clicking on the main link for a conversation opens a new window with clear indications of where the conversation is located – Twitter, Friendfeed, YouTube and more.
