Beck's online Record Club recording series takes an unexpectedly bizarre turn with this month's selection: Live at the Acropolis, a 1993 record by New Age composer Yanni. Previous month's have found Beck and friends (including Devendra Banhart, MGMT, and more) covering INXS, Leonard Cohen, and The Velvet Underground.

"Santorini," the first track from the Yanni record, was recently released. The knotty, Zappa-esque rendition features a gaggle of studio musicians, improvised lyrics by Thurston Moore, and, of course, Beck himself, who appears to mostly be making various bits of noise with his guitar. Moore's lyrical ramblings wouldn't make any sense if you transcribed them, but I could listen to him sing the phone book, so it doesn't much matter.
