Fake Onion Story Fools Tea Partiers
A two-year old video from The Onion has received some unlikely attention lately. As reported on BuzzFeed, the video has been cropping up on all the Facebook walls of right-wing Tea Partiers who are apparently convinced the video is real. So convinced, in fact, that when confronted with the fact that it's a spoof, some people still won't accept it.
"No actually this, actually happen, I seen it on the News before youtube," [sic!!] insists Billy Herring when confronted with the sad truth that he's been duped by a fake news site. But does he see the light when confronted with more evidence? No, of course not! Because that's not how these folks operate. "Me an' my wife searched the bill on the web when it first came to our knowledge, they may have pulled it, it does exist. I will show you more proof."
