Greenpeace, those wacky seafaring do-gooders are at it again. When they aren't busy saving the whales, they are trying to save endangered orangutans of Indonesia.

In a brash, but effective campaign playing on the well-known Kit Kat candybar's slogan, "Have a break," Greenpeace has created a video which depicts an uninspired office worker shredding paper, who takes a Kit Kat break, only to bite into an orangutan's finger, appalling the viewer and his co-workers.  Strangely, the man enjoy the primate phalange seems oblivious to the blood spilling out of his mouth and the effect is unsettling.  You kind of have to see it...or not.

At issue, is the Nestle company (they are well known global evil-doers), the makers of the Kit Kat bar, who have been clearing forests in Indonesia, the home of the orangutan, to harvest palm oil, the main ingredient in many of their candy products, including Kit Kats.

The Nestle Corporation has requested YouTube remove the video due to copyright infringement, but Greenpeace has uploaded the video to Vimeo, another video-hosting site and used Twitter to begin a viral campaign to spread the word of Nestle's abuse.

The video has since been uploaded multiple times to YouTube and with the added media attention, Nestle will have a hard time keeping people from seeing it.

It's unfortunate that is takes complete and utter shock value to get people to take notice of an issue, however, this is the world we live in — a world we have to learn to share with all its inhabitants.  Perhaps giving up Kit Kats for the life of our distant cousins isn't such a burden.
