MaYoMo Climate Change Channel Proves Popular
MaYoMo reported a record number of participants on its Copenhagen 2009 channel, launched earlier this month to coincide with the COP15 conference on climate change. The channel features nearly 200 user-generated videos, all created and uploaded within the past two weeks.
Hristo Alexiev, cofounder of MaYoMo, stated that the company aims to "empower those who feel strongly about the outcome of the Climate Change Conference by giving them a platform to voice and share their personal opinions with others around the globe."
And the content certainly is varied and personal, with submissions ranging from gorgeous nature footage shot at the Manila Ocean Park in the Philippines to vegan protests in Denmark.
MaYoMo is a platform for citizen journalism with a emphasis on content delivered from around the world. The map-based layout of the site allows users to identify videos from different regions, helping to better engage the viewer with global concerns.
