The Legion Of Extraordinary Dancers Visit TED and Oscar
Building momentum for their yet to launch web series, the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, also known as the LXD, have been doing some amazing live performances for some very influential audiences. Usually, it works the other way. You put up a web series, then you get some viral buzz, get a production deal, and then you finally can get asked up to the big leagues to perform for an A-list crowd.
As the video shows, though, the LXD is anything but conventional. Led by Jon Chu, director of the popular film, Step Up 2: The Streets, and featuring several dancers highlighted on So You Think You Can Dance, the LXD had an inside track to appear on tonight's Academy Awards program through Oscar choreographer Adam Shankman, who was also the producer on Chu's film.
The dance crew's appearance at TED, a conference which brings together leaders from technology, entertainment, and design, brought rave reviews, including this tweet from Bill Gates, "Afternoon TED session open w LXD dancers - another standing ovation for some increible kids. Will try to find a link... 'The LXD'."
