1022366_wedding_rings_2 Thirteen years ago I was walking down the aisle.  Today, as I stop to dwell on the years that have past, thinking in awe about how long thirteen years really is, I have been reminiscent of that day.  I think about how young we were. Wonder if we knew what we were getting into. (Does anyone?) Remembering...

So what do I remember about the day I got married?  I remember waking up to get ready, wondering if I really needed to start with the hair curling and makeup applying at 9 am when the ceremony wasn't until four. I remember my mom getting upset with me.  I can't for the life of me recall why. We got over it, though, and moved on.

I was highly annoyed that I had to stay in the "bride's room" for hours while my hubby to be roamed the halls with his groomsmen.  I was going stir crazy in there. We took pictures, but that is a blur. I felt panicked when I heard the photographer say "Where is the father of the bride" and my uncle reply "he's not here."  Where was he?  Why wasn't he there? It was almost time to walk down the aisle!  It turns out that he had to run to the house to get the punch which had apparently been forgotten.  I don't know where I thought he had gone, or why it worried me so,  but I just knew I was relieved when he got back.

Once the pictures were taken and all the other last minute things were done (all of which while I was still locked in the bride's room) I was ready to walk down the aisle.

I was nervous. Not so much about committing the rest of my life to my husband to be. I was ready for that! I was afraid that I would trip on the way down the aisle. There were four stairs at the front of the church we had to go up to say our vows. There was a unity candle to light. What if I knocked it over and caught the church on fire. Or my hair, or my dress!  I was nervous to be the center of attention, to have all of those eyes on me. I made it through all of those things without incident.
