Julianna I have a new obsession and it is called "The Good Wife"I am typically not a fan of nighttime TV dramas: I have never watched Grey's Anatomy, ER or any of the CSI shows.  But the commercials for "The Good Wife" grabbed me and I decided give it a try.  It was love at first site.  I am not sure if my crush is on Julianna Margulies or her character Mrs.Alicia Florrick, but I am pretty sure it is Mrs.Florrick (as many of her colleagues call her).

To summarize: Mrs. Florrick is the wife of Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) who was a State's Attorney of Illinois and is currently in jail for misappropriating public funds, which he denies, and being caught in bed with prostitutes, which he admits.  The show goes back and forth between Alicia building a new life for herself and her children; visiting her husband in jail; and her re-entry into the workplace after 13 years as a stay-at-home mother.

That Alicia is beautiful is a given. She is also brilliant (Georgetown Law, top of her class), poised and proud. One of her colleagues told her that she would be "curled up in a ball at home" if she were Alicia.  But there is Alicia going to work everyday in a law firm and court house where everybody knows her husband and the details of his affair(s) intimately well. She carries herself with dignity and grace, and not a trace of self-pity.

On the first episode of "The Good Wife", Alicia stood silently next to her husband at his "mea culpa" press conference (a la Silda Spitzer and Elizabeth Edwards) and then as soon as they were out of camera range, immediately slapped her husband across the face so hard that he practically fell backwards. I was hooked on her right then and there.  She did the "right" thing for her husband and children publicly, but the minute the cameras were off, she made it very clear that life as he knew it was over.
