What's with the wildlife?
My daughters and I love spring. We love walking to and from school, noticing the daffodils and tulips coming up, the forsythia blooming, and all the trees with their beautiful blossoms. Every day, Sydney tries to coax robins to hop up into her stroller and play with her. We love watching the squirrels running up and down trees, and the other day we even saw a beaver as we were driving home.
We live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Our town is far closer to the "urbs" than the "subs." In other words, we don't have deer leaping through our backyards like we used to have in central Bucks county. Squirrels, birds, and the occasional bunny are pretty much what we expect to have as far as animals.
But in recent weeks, we have encountered a greater variety. Several mornings, we have been awakened by a horrible stink that permeated throughout the entire house.
After many google searches and sniffing around, we finally decided that somehow a skunk was stinking up our house...without actually coming in...and without allowing any of his stink to smell up the outside. Yeah, it doesn't really make sense. But it has stopped, and that is enough for me right now.
Just to keep track, now we have squirrels, birds, bunnies, SKUNKS.
Then, last weekend, we were taking advantage of the beautiful weather to get some outside chores done. We had finished cleaning out the car (looooooonnnnnng overdue, and deserves to be a post of its own) and had left it unlocked (briefly--maybe 20 minutes) while we went inside to get ready to go out to dinner.
I brought the girls out to take them to our friends' house for our babysitting swap and we all started to get into the car. And I opened the driver's door to see the sight you will behold in the pic at the top of the post. What WAS that? A dried out banana peel? If it weren't for the fact that we had JUST finished cleaning out the car, it wouldn't have been hard to believe.
