Halloween is Great for Adults!
Halloween is the most bestest holiday in the whole wide world!
Think a kid said that? Think again! I'm a middle-aged dad, and I love Halloween. And not just because I like seeing my kids get all costumed up. Halloween is a time when angels can be devils, goody two shoes can be creeps, and the most prim and proper can be more than a little slutty.
In short, Halloween is when us parents get to be kids again.

Either way, Halloween is my favorite time of year. Here's why I like it so much...
- Prep work - unlike Christmas, when you have to shop for gifts for your family, friends, coworkers, professional contacts, discreet affair partners, and whoever else...
And unlike Thanksgiving, when you have to plan an exotic meal with multiple courses, cook all day (or travel to Grandma's), until you burst, sip some limoncello, then take a post-banquet tryptophan nap on the couch...
For Halloween, you simply buy a few pounds of candy and stick it in a bowl, whether at work, or home, then make others happy by letting them eat all the crap they want. How great is that?
- Tricks for Kids, Treats for Adults - your kids will trick-or-treat their hearts out, running from house to house, asking for candy, then dashing off to fill their bag somewhere else. While they're getting their candy freak on, you can stroll with other parents, drinking wine or even a mai tai out of plastic cups. (Shhh... no one needs to know but you and your friends.)
- Sugar high - at the end of the night, your kids will have eaten enough candy to keep your dentist's children in private school for another year. Then they will crash big time with a sugar high. They'll sleep like babies the rest of the night. At which point, you can raid their candy bag (shhh... don't tell), and/or finish off that trick-or-treat wine. Continued on the next page
