More Cool Parent Points Scored
Every parent knows what a Cool Parent point is, right?
You know, you earn Cool Parent points in those moments when your kids don’t think you’re a nerd, a geek, too bossy, or someone who is ruining your life.
You collect Cool Parent points when you do something cool.
Like when Alix took her kids to check out a blogger event featuring a new Tony Hawk video game. Or when Big Little Wolf let her son host a teen party in her backyard. Cool Parent moments are meant to be cherished.
Now then, as a single parent on the dating scene, I admit I actually have a social life apart from me being a parent. Not that married people don’t get out, but my social outings are far different than when I was married and going to dinner parties. I go out for cocktails, concerts, hikes, and dinners in nice restaurants. All without the kids. (I have more than a few sexy and funny stories to share... But I digress.)
So it was a pleasant surprise when my single dad dating life spilled over into my single parenting life, and earned me Cool Parent points in the process.
As a dating single dad, I subscribe to a couple of alt-rock mailing lists. I get emails from Billy Corgan telling me about the latest goings-on with Smashing Pumpkins. I get emails when the band Tool is coming to town. I get alt-rock concert updates for pretty much every band that plays on Live105 (San Francisco’s world famous source for alternative music.)
When I heard U2 would be playing the Oakland Coliseum in June 2010, I was ecstatic. I’ve seen them twice (once I saw U2 in San Jose (I was in the heart!), and once in Honolulu with Pearl Jam opening the show. Wow. And I'm not just saying that for the Mai Tais we drank. Awesome show!!!)
