Are you obsessed with fashion and beauty? If the answer is yes, then there is a high chance that you spend a fair amount of time trying to make sure that whatever you are wearing is fashionable. It was once thought that fashion is reserved for people who work in fashion and does not really concern the general public. With changing times, more women have become concerned as to whether their outfits are fashionable. However, who really sets the trends and decides what is in vogue? Have you ever wondered why some colors, styles and accessories suddenly become a favorite among everyone around you?

Fashion designers and legendary fashion houses, such as Prada, Gucci and Chanel, lead the way in influencing women's perception of fashion. These designers create trend-setting fashion and are able to gain a wider appeal through fashion exhibitions, shows and magazine photo-shoots that display their collection. Even though some of their designs may seem outrageous, the brand appeal attracts people to adapt the themes into outfits that may be worn in daily routine.

The growth of mass media has also played a pivotal role in developing fashion sense among women. Women are likely to follow characters in popular television shows and movies and also closely follow celebrity-driven fashion trends. A dress worn by any A-list celebrity, such as Jennifer Lopez and Kate Hudson, is likely to attract media spotlight and become instantly famous. A remake of the 1975 movie, The Stepford Wives, helped set the trend of femininity in women's fashion.Similarly, musicians have also become very instrumental in dictating fashion. Top stars, like Jessica Simpson and Lady Gaga, are leading the fashion scene and have influenced women to adopt new fashion trends. Aspiring to look beautiful like these Hollywood dolls, women may develop their own versions of these new, cutting-edge designs. These inspired creations may become even more popular through advertisements and magazine pages.
