Two Stupid Massachusetts Women
In this edition of Perplexity, we're going to talk about two women from Massachusetts who apparently overdosed on stupid pills recently.
In the first case, 63-year-old Sharon Faulkner, was arrested yesterday for drunk driving.
Here's the kicker; she was driving her 9-year-old grandson to school and crashed the car. The Marblehead woman got out of the car, grabbed her grandson and walked over a mile to drop her grandson off at school.
An off duty police found came upon the scene only to find the smashed vehicle empty. Police tracked the woman down at the school, where her breath reeked of alcohol, according to reports. Police handcuffed the suspect, Sharon Faulkner, at the school after she failed a field sobriety test and got a 1.4 on a breathalyzer — almost twice the legal limit.
The 9-year-old boy allegedly afterward complained of minor chest pain to authorities when they arrived at the school, and police noticed a bump on his forehead. He was received medical attention and was released.
She was arraigned on Thursday and ordered held on $2,500 cash bail, on the condition she would submit to random alcohol testing. Prosecutors had hoped to keep her behind bars without bail, deeming her a dangerous person for society.
The second Massachusetts woman in question is involved in a much more severe case — one where she assaulted her 2-year-old who later died as a result of the injuries.
Kim Peno, 39, appeared Thursday afternoon in Taunton District Court on several charges, including assault and battery of a child causing substantial injury. She was ordered held without bail.
Investigators say they plan to file new charges over the weekend in light of the boy’s death, possibly including murder charges. Peno is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
